Help Shape Georgia’s Clean Energy Workforce

Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA), the state’s manager tasked with conserving and improving Georgia’s energy, land, and water resources has partnered with Building Performance Foundation (BPF), the nation’s premier building performance trade association, on a needs assessment to learn how to enhance the industry for workers. To learn more, BPF wants and needs to hear from you, the workforce, so that our recommendations to GEFA reflect your experiences. 

Unlike previous assessments, BPF intends to use what we learn from you to advocate for change that could lead to positive change for your work; not just collecting data for the sake of a report. Our findings will remain a part of how BPF champions policymakers in Georgia and will be reflected in the programs we co-develop in the state. 

Participating is voluntary and you can skip any question. Your answers are confidential: results are reported in groups only, and your individual answers and business name will not be shared. We’ll share the results with everyone who takes part by February 2027.

You should take the survey if you live in Georgia and are a contractor or installer (e.g., insulation, air sealing, HVAC) in the clean energy and building performance industry, a building efficiency professional (e.g., energy auditor, WAP professional), or an industry stakeholder (e.g., local government leader, trainer)

The goal of the needs assessment survey is to identify workforce gaps in Georgia's clean energy and building efficiency industry and find ways to strengthen the workforce and support economic growth.  Your participation matters because we want to hear from the people who are actually doing the work everyday and have valuable insights that others do not.

The survey closes on December 15, 2026 at 11:59pm ET. After that time, you will not be able to access the survey or submit answers.

The survey takes around 8 to 10 minutes to complete. 

Yes, there is an option to complete the survey by phone. You will find a telephone number that you may call to set up a time. 

The results of the survey will be used to develop recommendations and pilot programs focused on education, scholarships, and training and workforce development for existing and new workers in the building performance industry.

BPF will host a webinar to present our findings to survey responders in February 2027, where we will also compile feedback and recommendations for how to use this information to enhance the building performance industry.

Building Performance Foundation (BPF) is conducting a statewide needs assessment for the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA), drawing on its expertise in building performance and workforce development to identify workforce needs and opportunities across Georgia.

Because BPF is external to Georgia, we are uniquely positioned to act as a more objective organization. Our goal is simple: create a survey that is as unbiased as possible, share the results with survey respondents and GEFA, and make recommendations for next steps that better serve the industry at large.

Once the survey closes, BPF will randomly choose 30 winners. You will be notified via email by December 18, 2026 if you are a winner.

Winners will receive one $50 Home Depot gift card. 

Please note, raffle entry will be optional, and emails will be collected on a separate form upon completion of the survey.

Your personal information will not be used in the survey or published. Our survey software allows us to gather contact information for survey respondents separate and apart from their survey responses. 

Answers are confidential, and only research team members will see individual survey responses. Any personal information you enter, whether to opt-in to a phone call or opt-in to enter the raffle, will not be tied to survey responses.

All survey data will be permanently deleted X (of months, years, etc.) after survey conclusion.
