When developing programs to address energy affordability, it is important to understand the concept of equity – how it is defined and the role of income, race, gender, and other factors. Learn how DOE’s Clean Energy for Low Income Communities Accelerator addressed equity in its program toolkit and get examples from state and local governments that are working to address equity in low-income energy affordability. Representatives from Minnesota discussed the state’s engagement of Tribal participants and the District of Columbia shared how D.C. is addressing the equity gap in access to energy efficiency and renewable energy in low-income households – including multifamily renters.
