Launched in 2020, the Consumers Energy Super-Efficient, All-Electric Homes pilot encourages builders in the residential new construction industry to build homes to next-generation building practices to understand how all-electric housing can be constructed in colder midwestern climates to help meet aggressive reduction targets.

The Consumers Energy Pilots team has implemented a phased effort to understand incremental costs and performance of all-electric homes in Michigan. The presentation focuses on the background of the pilot, provides an overview of the phased approach, and looks ahead to opportunities and challenges the residential new home construction faces to build residential dwelling units of the future.
