Nevada Contractor Meeting Recap: July 30, 2025
August 4, 2025
On July 30, the Building Performance Association hosted an engaging conversation with Nevada-based energy efficiency professionals to break down the latest federal and state updates impacting the industry. This was the fourth of five meetings that we are hosting in Nevada this summer. Here’s a quick overview of what we discussed:
Home Energy Rebates
While there are no major updates since the last meeting, momentum continues to build. Nearly $100 million has been allocated to Nevada for the HOMES and HEAR rebate programs—and that funding remains secure. Attendees discussed what’s coming next, including expected guidance and what implementation might look like.
Tax Credits
Key federal incentives—including 25C, 25D, and 45L—are set to expire soon (25C and 25D at the end of this year and 45L in June 2026). This could impact project affordability for homeowners. We discussed how these changes could affect energy efficiency businesses and what is being done to respond.
Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
We explored the politics behind WAP funding and what’s at stake. While there was an early push to eliminate WAP and LIHEAP by the administration, the latest House proposal suggested a partial cut rather than a full repeal. We shared insights on what to expect from the Senate and the road ahead.
ENERGY STAR
Despite a proposal to defund the ENERGY STAR program, both the House and Senate appear poised to keep it alive. However, issues with staffing and other bottlenecks may impact the future of the program. We talked about what is expected in terms of program changes and timelines.
If you want to be part of the discussion, join our fifth and final meeting in this series on August 27, 2025.
