Website

Overview

Read to find expert information about hundreds of high-performance construction topics (including air sealing and insulation, HVAC components, windows, indoor air quality, labeling programs, and more) on the Building America Solution Center, or BASC, website.

The residential building industry is made up of more than just builders—many professionals are involved in the process from beginning to end. From architects and engineers to builders, remodelers and installers, to code officials and energy raters—all of them play an integral role in ensuring the construction and renovation of comfortable, healthy, durable, and energy efficient homes.

And all of these industry players can find expert information about hundreds of high-performance construction topics (including air sealing and insulation, HVAC components, windows, indoor air quality, labeling programs, and more) on the Building America Solution Center, or BASC, website.

BASC disseminates research-based best practices from DOE’s Building America program for new construction and upgrades to existing homes. PNNL developed and maintains the BASC, with contributions from subject matter experts from DOE, its national laboratories, and Building America teams.

Since its launch in January 2013, the BASC has seen tremendous growth in user numbers, with a total today of 1.7 million. From 2018 to 2019 alone, users and sessions increased by 26% and pageviews increased by 23%.
