ACEEE Toolkit: Ready-to-Go: State and Local Efforts Advancing Energy Efficiency

Download

Overview

Read the report which discusses federal funding opportunities and programs across the United States that support energy-efficient buildings and transportation, and help train workers in these fields

Billions in federal funds passed this month through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act—and earlier this year through the American Rescue Plan Act—bring a major energy efficiency opportunity for cities and states. A new ACEEE toolkit provides a resource for these governments, and their partner organizations, as they prepare to deploy these and potential future federal funding opportunities.

ACEEE set out six guiding principles for governments developing energy efficiency programs, synthesizing lessons learned from examples and centering equity considerations. They then provide descriptions of 17 example programs across the United States that support energy-efficient buildings and transportation, and help train workers in these fields. Each project description identifies successes and challenges, and highlights key ways that the program could be a model for other governments. Cities and states can put these lessons to work while using federal investments to help meet their goals to cut greenhouse gas emissions and reduce energy costs.
