Policy Update: Omnibus Appropriations Package
The U.S. House of Representatives has filed the Fiscal Year 2022 omnibus appropriations package, containing all 12 appropriations measures. The finalized bill increases funding for key departments and offices, with the Department of Energy receiving $44.9 billion, a $2.9 billion or 6.9% increase over the previous fiscal year. The bill includes investments in energy research and development, infrastructure projects, and programs such as Residential Building Integration, Weatherization Assistance, and the U.S. State Energy Program. The Senate and House are expected to vote on the package this week ahead of the government funding deadline of March 11.
On March 9, the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) omnibus appropriations package, containing all 12 appropriations measures, was filed in the U.S. House of Representatives. The finalized omnibus bill provides increases in funding for key departments and offices, raising funding for the Department of Energy (DOE) to $44.9 billion, an effective increase of $2.9 billion or 6.9% over FY21 enacted levels.

- Investments in U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) programs, including energy research and development, as well as important infrastructure projects administered by the Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation.
- A record-level $3.2 billion for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, which is a $338 million boost above the FY21 enacted level for the office.
- Funding for our key programs including Residential Building Integration (RBI), the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), and the U.S. State Energy Program (SEP) – all of which received increases over FY21 levels.
The Senate and House are expected to vote on the package this week prior to the government funding deadline of March 11.
