Brook Vernon
Workforce Development Programs Manager
Brook is the Workforce Development Programs Manager for the Building Performance Association. She is based in Virginia and most recently served as the Rural-Industrial Clean Energy Coordinator for the Virginia State Energy Office. Her role included building stakeholder engagement and implementing clean energy policies. She undertook the management and coordination of the Residential Solar and Energy Efficiency Workforce Gap Analysis, while assisting in the development of a Low-to-Moderate Residential Solar Pilot and assisted in project coordination for the State Energy Office’s recently awarded “Renewables Advancing Community Energy Resilience” grant through the Department of Energy.
Brook lives with her husband, three children and a multitude of cats and dogs. She enjoys spending time volunteering with local nonprofits, gardening, kayaking, reading a good book, and attending live music events. Brook’s background includes over five years in multiple roles at a local community action agency dedicated to providing weatherization services to low-income individuals and families. Her experience includes organizational development, program implementation, grant management, and outreach.
An entrepreneur by heart, Brook is enthusiastic about building sustainable training pathways for the energy efficiency sector and hopes to provide exposure for these careers at the K-12 level in rural and disadvantaged communities. Brook holds a BS in Political Science and is excited to join the talented State Outreach team. She brings knowledge in strengthening organizational capacity, a passion for developing innovative programs and cultivating relationships in the energy efficiency and home performance industry.
