The Association’s President and CEO, Brian T. Castelli, Announces Retirement

October 26, 2017 – Washington, D.C. After 42 years in the energy industry, Brian T. Castelli will retire from the Building Performance Association, effective October 31, 2017.

Castelli served as the first President and CEO of HPC, the organization created by the merger of the National Home Performance Council (NHPC) with Affordable Comfort, Inc. (ACI) in 2014. “As the first CEO, he handled the complexity of organizational integration and the development of strategic alliances with other organizations in the energy efficiency industry with great vision and poise,” said Steve Cowell, Chair of the Board of Directors.

“My time at HPC has been both exciting and rewarding. Merging two organizations with very different functions and bringing them together under one umbrella was not without challenge,” said Castelli. “I am happy to note that in the past three years, not only does HPC function as a unified organization with a singular mission, but it has also led the charge toward industry-wide collaboration among key home performance and energy efficiency organizations.”

Castelli joined HPC in 2014 following a national search, and has led the organization to success. Principal among his achievements has been the integration of the annual HPC National Home Performance Conference with the biannual National Training Program of the U. S. Department of Energy’s (DOE), Weatherization Assistance Program. In 2017, Brian Castelli’s guidance and dedication to this initiative helped lead the Association national conferences to record levels of attendance.

While the Board of Directors conducts a search for a new permanent CEO, HPC will be led by Keith Aldridge on an interim basis. Aldridge has over three decades of experience in the energy efficiency field and had led the development of a variety of innovative high performance homes programs ranging from the Duct Diagnostics and Repair Training Program in the Carolinas to the Environments for Living New Homes Program. He was an early supporter of Affordable Comfort and served two terms on ACI’s Board of Directors. His comprehensive understanding of the organization, the mission, and the industry will ensure that HPC continues the movement forward on which Castelli worked so diligently.

“I believe in the vision of HPC and am excited to help in this transition. Brian Castelli’s industry legacy and leadership helped pave the way for future advancement and growth. I look forward to the continuation ofthe Association’s project, policy and conference success,” said Aldridge.
