DOE Provides Modeling Solutions for HOMES Program
July 10, 2024
An update from the U.S. Department of Energy:
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has introduced new resources to aid in the execution of the Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES) program and has refreshed several existing resources to assist states and territories in the application, design, and implementation of their Home Energy Rebate initiatives.
New resources include:
Single-Family Modeling Solutions for the Home Efficiency Rebates Program: The Inflation Reduction Act requires the use of whole-home modeling software that is BPI-2400 compliant for the HOMES program’s modeled savings pathway. The modeled savings pathway is one of two available options under the HOMES program. Learn more.
Multifamily Requirements Guidance for Home Efficiency Rebates Modeled Savings: This document provides states with guidance on developing strategies for home assessments and modeling requirements for multifamily housing under the HOMES modeled energy savings pathway.
DOE has also updated the following resources:
- Low-Income Energy Affordability Data (LEAD) Tool and Community Energy Solutions
- Home Energy Rebates ALRD Application Checklist
- Narrative Document Template IRA Section 50121: Home Efficiency Rebates
- Narrative Document Template IRA Section 50122: Home Electrification & Appliance Rebates
