BPA State News

Arizona – The Building Performance Association (BPA) will host our next policy update for Arizona contractors on Wednesday, October 8, at 9:00 AM PT—we hope you can join us! This session will cover the status of federal programs such as the Home Energy rebates, Weatherization Assistance Program, LIHEAP, and tax credits, as well as the recent vote by the Arizona Corporation Commission to repeal the energy efficiency standards rules for electric and gas utilities. Nevada – Similarly to the aforementioned policy webinar for Arizona contractors, we will also host a virtual policy update for Nevada contractors on Wednesday, October 8 at 8:00 AM PT. We will provide timely updates on federal initiatives including the home efficiency rebate program (HOMES) and electrification rebates (HEAR) program, as well as relevant tax credits and incentives. State Industry News

Michigan – DTE and Consumers Energy are hosting virtual training sessions throughout 2025 to teach best practices and theories for residential construction. These trainings are geared for seasoned contractors, builders, and design professionals, along with those new to the industry. Trainings begin with building science fundamentals and progress to cutting-edge practices. Participants can attend multiple trainings at no cost! Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Workforce Insights for Contractors

On Tuesday, September 30 at 4:00 PM ET, BPA will host a virtual panel discussion featuring leaders in the energy efficiency industry who will share their career journeys, experiences navigating the industry, and practical insights that you can apply to strengthen your own workforce. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, this webinar will feature an all-Hispanic panel.

This conversation will highlight real-world strategies for recruiting and retaining talent, helping contractors expand their teams and build more resilient businesses. Attendees will also have the chance to engage in a live Q&A with the panelists who bring a breadth of knowledge from their careers in HVAC, weatherization, program management, insulation, community action, and more.

Recap: The Future of Consumer Energy Efficiency Incentives Post-OBBBA

On Wednesday, September 24, BPA hosted a webinar for its premium members about the impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1) on the home performance industry. In this webinar, Kara Saul Rinaldi, BPA’s Chief Policy Officer, reviewed which incentives were impacted, BPA’s advocacy efforts during negotiations, and our plans to support consumer energy efficiency incentives going forward.
