Air Source Heat Pumps Best Practices – From Retrofit to New Construction
Consumer interest in air source heat pumps (ASHPs) is growing rapidly, especially interest in the highly efficient variable capacity mini- and multi-split (“ductless”) systems. While sales are exponentially growing, there are still many misconceptions around this technology across the industry.
Consumer interest in air source heat pumps (ASHPs) is growing rapidly, especially interest in the highly efficient variable capacity mini- and multi-split (“ductless”) systems. While sales are exponentially growing, there are still many misconceptions around this technology across the industry. This session aims to bridge that knowledge gap and address a broad set of topics that include:
- Current misconceptions
- Industry trends
- Diverse and flexible applications in retrofit scenarios
- Consumer interest in whole home solutions
- Strategies in high performance homes.
In this session, attendees will also learn how to properly design a variable capacity ASHP system for cold climate applications. While the focus will be on single-family residential applications, multifamily and light commercial ASHP systems will also be discussed.
This class qualifies for the following credits:
- BPI
- NARI
- WI-DSPS
- Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification
- UDC-HVAC Inspector Certification
