Today, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) launched their annual Integrated Home Competition, rewarding market leaders whose connected home solutions provide energy savings, load management capability, and meet consumer expectations for interoperability, reliability, and simplicity.
The CEE Integrated Home is a connected, fuel neutral, interactive, and efficient home where devices and systems effectively communicate to provide new customers, utility systems, and societal value. It emphasizes home solutions that can react to the dynamic energy value based on time and location, allowing utilities and program administrators to manage to their core mission of maintaining a safe, low cost, and reliable energy experience.
The annual Integrated Home Competition supports this vision through public promotion of commercially available solutions that are simple, reliable, well-designed, and highly functional. Guided by a consumer-focused lens, the competition recognizes innovative products and systems that provide an added value to homeowners’ energy experience through improved customization and personalization. It provides a platform for distinguishing innovation in service to integrated demand side management objectives, including traditional energy savings.
Award winners receive credible third-party promotion and recognition through webinars, press releases, the Integrated Home Competition website, presence at industry events, and additional promotion by Competition Sponsors. In addition, CEE member efficiency program administrators may choose to recommend winning entries to their customers and contractors or consider pilot programs. All entrants receive insight and direction on future utility needs.
Entries are evaluated through a two-phase process: screening by the Competition Sponsors and a live assessment of the finalists by a Judging Panel comprised of individuals with expertise in usability, interoperability, integrated demand side management (IDSM) program administration, product or system installation, specific technology performance, and promotion. Entries are judged against the following criteria:
- Energy savings and greenhouse gas emissions reduction
- Functionality
- Load management
- Data sharing
- Interoperability
- Reliability
- Consumer value proposition
- Ease of installation, set up, and use
- Cybersecurity
- Quality of design and engineering
- Innovation
