Join BPA’s Board and Help Shape the Future of Home Performance
March 27, 2025
Now through April 18th, BPA invites nominations for individuals to join the BPA Board of Directors. Board members have the opportunity to help shape the future of home performance, influence the direction of the organization, and make valuable contributions to the industry.
This year, the board is prioritizing individuals representing weatherization, people with policy backgrounds, people who bring a diverse representation among our slate of directors, and individuals from across the country. Currently, regions of the country other than the Northeast and Upper Midwest have few members on the Board.
BPA is committed to promoting fairness within the industry and is actively seeking candidates from historically underrepresented communities, including people of color, immigrants, women, and LGBTQIA individuals. We encourage those who identify with these or other underrepresented communities to submit an application.
Board Involvement
BPA Board members serve three-year terms with a limit of two consecutive terms. The Board currently meets once every two months, with one of these meetings in person each year. Additionally, many of our passionate leaders work monthly on policy, strategy, workforce development, standards, and issues related to home and building performance to ensure fairness.
Board members participate in planning the National Home Performance Conference and regional conferences and are encouraged to attend all BPA events. Board members serve on one or more of the Board’s standing committees, which include Membership, Governance, Strategic Planning, Policy, and Nominations. Officers are elected by the Board and comprise the Executive Committee. Board members must also meet certain eligibility bylaws, such as being a current member of the Association.
BPA Board members:
- Provide overall strategic direction for the Association and its professional staff
- Are passionate advocates for the professions represented by the Association
- Assist in growing and ensuring membership is non-discriminate
- Collaborate with industry partners to grow sponsorships and events
- Utilize social media and other tools to encourage engagement with BPA
- Act as ambassadors for the Association in business settings and at industry events
