National Guideline Standards for Energy Efficiency Registered Apprenticeships
The Building Performance Association’s National Guideline Standards provide a federally approved framework for building and expanding Registered Apprenticeship Programs in energy efficiency.
What is a Registered Apprenticeship Program?
A Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare a skilled workforce. Individuals can obtain paid work experience, while getting hands on in an innovative, work-based learning model, and receive a nationally recognized credential.
RAPs are validated to meet the standards defined by the U.S. Department of Labor and a State Apprenticeship Agency.
A National Framework for Energy Efficiency Careers
With the U.S. Department of Labor – Office of Apprenticeship’s approval, BPA can sponsor energy efficiency registered apprenticeship programs nationwide for two core occupations.
These standards help employers create high-quality, consistent apprenticeship programs that meet industry needs while supporting long-term workforce development.
Energy Specialist
Home Performance Laborer
High Demand, Energy Efficiency Careers
With more than 2.4 million workers in energy efficiency, the industry is growing rapidly. In the coming years, Energy Specialists and Home Performance Laborers will be high, in-demand occupations. RAPs offer a reliable work-based approach for providing the on-the-job and technical skills needed to support workforce expansion.
