Engaging Contractors on the Inflation Reduction Act

NHPC'24 Focused Workshop

Making Incentives Work at Time of Sale

Monday, April 8 from 3-5 p.m.

Join BPA's policy team, Kara Saul Rinaldi and Skip Wiltshire-Gordon, for a deep dive workshop at NHPC'24 on Monday, April 8, from 3-5 p.m. as we explore IRA rebates and their integration with other federal and state programs.

This workshop is focused on aligning the current and forthcoming federal incentives with your business models. We need your input so we can share your thoughts in our advocacy.

Who is this workshop for? Current HVAC, weatherization, and home performance contractors who want to learn about the home energy rebates and incentives that are in the process of implementation planning by states. We will also discuss the best ways to stack and braid the incentives with rebates, tax credits, weatherization, and state utility programs. Contractors like you joined dozens of “lobby days” in the lead-up to IRA passage in support of rebates and incentives—help us help policymakers make them work.

Pre-Registration for the Workshop

This workshop is designed to provide information and answer questions, but most importantly it aims to gain insights from contactors on what incentive measures work at the kitchen table when helping homeowners make decisions about system and envelope upgrades.

Once you've signed up for NHPC'24, please pre-register for this workshop and share a few details about you.

To further support our efforts, BPA and AnnDyl are also circulating this national energy efficiency and home performance contractor survey to understand the needs and concerns of the industry. This survey is optional to attendance at the workshop, but we hope you will consider taking 15 minutes to complete it to tell DOE what policies work!

Energizing Your Business with a Peer Group

Wednesday, April 10, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Join this session after lunch to learn how Peer Groups—groups of non-competing contractors who come together to share secrets for success—can be an invaluable aid to contractors seeking to make their businesses perform. The frank discussion of what works and what doesn't in their businesses helps them improve profitability. In this session, hear how contractors participating in groups discuss important business issues such as key performance indicators, operating procedures and processes, marketing and advertising strategies, quality management, employee and labor issues, industry trends, and other issues. Hear what to look for in peers and how to organize, launch, and conduct your group.

Running Your Home Performance Business

Peter Troast, the Founder and CEO of Energy Circle, is joining us as a presenter in the Running Your Home Performance Business track. These sessions will share expert strategies for closing deals, boosting profitability, and attracting new customers. Topics include:

  • Marketing in the IRA Era
  • Online Marketing to Low-Income Households
  • Adding a Business Line & Diversifying Your Business, Part 1: Shell to HVAC and Part 2: Other Business Lines & Partnerships
