Overview

In this resource, ACEEE describes policies that lawmakers can use to help reduce energy use in the building sector.  

Buildings account for 40% of total energy consumption in the United States. Given the scale of energy resources dedicated to heating, cooling, and maintaining these structures, there is a significant opportunity to achieve savings through policies promoting efficiency in both existing buildings and new construction. In this resource, ACEEE describes policies that lawmakers can use to help reduce energy use in the building sector.
