BPA State Updates

Arizona – On May 14, BPA hosted a virtual contractor roundtable that covered updates on federal programs impacting the state of Arizona. Items discussed included the potential repeal of certain tax credits, updates to Home Energy Rebates, as well as the status of programs including ENERGY STAR, Workforce Training (TREC), the State Energy Program, and more. This roundtable was the first in a series of five that BPA will be hosting specifically for Arizona contractors over the summer. The next one will be June 4, 2025 at 9:00 AM PT. Nevada – Last month, BPA held a virtual roundtable discussion with contractors to review key updates on federal initiatives affecting Nevada. Topics included potential changes to tax credits, the latest on Home Energy Rebates, and the current landscape of programs like ENERGY STAR, Workforce Training (TREC), the State Energy Program, and others. This session marked the first in a five-part series tailored to Nevada contractors that will continue throughout the summer. The next meeting will take place on June 4, 2025, at 8:00 AM PT. State Industry Updates

Georgia – The pilot period for Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates concluded March 31, and the program entered a new phase with an increasing scope and additional features. Throughout the pilot, the program team refined operational processes, collected participant feedback, and expanded the contractor network. Read more and be on the lookout for updates.

Indiana – The Indiana Office of Energy Development (OED) has launched the state’s HOMES and HEAR programs statewide. The Indiana Energy Saver Program will provide both HOMES and HEAR offerings through a single application process to maximize household benefits. Indiana’s allocation for both programs is $181.9 million. The Indiana Energy Saver Program is currently recruiting contractors to join its Qualified Contractor Network. Learn more and apply now.

Maine – Efficiency Maine Trust (Efficiency Maine), the independent administrator for programs to improve the efficiency of energy use and reduce greenhouse gases, has announced that the Maine Public Utilities Commission approved Efficiency Maine’s strategic plan spanning the period from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. Michigan – The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has announced the statewide launch of MiHER, a program that will help households across the state save thousands of dollars on energy expenses through home energy improvements and new, efficient appliances. These rebate options support energy efficiency and electrification upgrades for single and multi-family homes. North Carolina – The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) State Energy Office (SEO) has selected nine projects to receive $2.79 million in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants. The selected projects will boost energy savings and reduce costs for local governments, state agencies, and universities across the state. Read the full press release.

Virginia – The Virginia Energy Efficiency Council & FLIPP Inc., are launching the Trades Workforce Development Program, which extends a statewide funding opportunity to trade contractors of the Commonwealth. 

The approach to this program aligns the needs of contractors while simultaneously addressing the needs of skilled trades workers, specifically in HVAC, weatherization, and electrical fields, for a more sustainable, equitable energy future within the state of Virginia.

Grants are available to assist businesses with Registered Apprenticeship Programs (new and expanding), on-the-job training programs, supportive services, and contractor development assistance.
