Compare BPA’s National and Regional Conferences: Size, Cost, & What You’ll Learn

August 19, 2025

Every year, energy efficiency professionals gather at BPA’s national and regional home performance conferences to connect, learn, and advance their work. Whether you’re looking to meet national leaders or local peers, our conferences offer unmatched opportunities tailored to your goals. So, how do you choose which event is right for you?

In April, we host our annual event—the National Home Performance Conference & Trade Show—bringing together thousands from across the country. Throughout the year, we also hold regional conferences that focus on local challenges and solutions. This fall, we’re headed to Newton, MA for the New England Regional Home Performance Conference, November 10–11. Not sure which event is right for you? Here’s how they compare.

Attendance & Networking

National Conference

Our national conference is the largest home performance, weatherization, and healthy housing educational event in the country, bringing together thousands of attendees from all 50 states. In 2025, we had over 2,800 professionals in attendance. The trade show floor buzzes with excitement, featuring vendors offering live demos, giveaways, fun activities, and a chance to engage with innovative products and services. You’ll connect with peers doing similar and complementary work—whether you’re in home performance, weatherization, HVAC, healthy housing, or programs.

Regional Conferences

Our regional conferences are usually a bit smaller with around 300-600 attendees. These events provide space for meaningful conversations with professionals who work in and understand your local market. You’ll also enjoy a trade show that features both regional and national vendors, giving you the opportunity to connect with your local utility as well as larger manufacturers and suppliers. Many attendees say these events make it easier to build lasting connections and practical collaborations.

Educational Content

National Conference

Attendees enjoy 150+ sessions and workshops over four days at our national conference, covering various home performance, weatherization, and healthy housing topics. The conference kicks off with in-depth workshops on Monday, offering 90-minute and half-day formats for deeper learning on specialized topics. Some tracks include building science and technical information, strategies to run a home performance business or program, key policy updates, and emerging technologies. The agenda features nationally renowned presenters from across the country who share their experience and expertise, providing valuable insights you can apply to your work.

Regional Conference

At a regional conference, sessions may mirror topics to national programming, but many will have a unique focus on the region. Expert presenters will discuss the unique challenges faced in that region, such as climate conditions, housing stock, and workforce capacity. You’ll also explore how these factors influence state policy, utility programs, and available rebates and incentives. Smaller classroom sizes allow for greater interaction with presenters, giving you more opportunities to ask questions and engage in discussion. You’ll still find sessions on the core principles of building science, effective business strategies, and workforce development.

CEU Opportunities

Both our national and regional conferences provide the opportunity to earn CEUs from attending sessions and workshops. CEUs are available through our education partners, including BPI (QCI, HHE, EA), BSI, InterNACHI, NARI, NATE, and RESNET.
