BPI’s Jon Siemen Memorial Scholarship Applications Now Open
October 21, 2021
Applications for Building Performance Institute (BPI)’s Jon Siemen Memorial Scholarship are now open.
The Jon Siemen Memorial Scholarship has been developed to honor the life, memory, and work of Jon Siemen, who passed away in March 2015. Jon started his career in weatherization in the late 1970s, when he began working at Community Action in Southwestern Vermont (BROC). He joined the BPI team in 2009, where he filled the roles of Field Representative and Technical Relations Representative. Over the years, Jon was involved in administering BPI exams, contributing to standards and certification development, performing quality assurance reviews, and answering technical questions presented by contractors, candidates, and proctors.
Jon was a much-loved member of the BPI team and a lifelong advocate for weatherization. The scholarship in his memory advances weatherization careers for four awardees each year by enabling recipients to take online and field exams for BPI certification at no cost. BPI will also help each recipient to obtain training for that certification at reduced or no cost.
Applicants must currently work with a weatherization assistance program or be a United States military veteran. Applications are due by November 30th. Find more details by downloading the application and guidelines here!
